Equality Senior Living focuses on Communities to meet your needs:
Assisted Living Communities help people stay as independent as possible while offering necessary help on an as-needed basis. They provide personal care and support services or help with basic daily activities, such as bathing, dressing, and medication management. Most assisted living residences provide apartment-style living, though there are also "board-and-care homes" and "personal care-group homes," which are single-family dwellings licensed at the state or local level to provide care. They offer meals, activities, housekeeping, transportation, and some level of security.
Continuing Care Retirement Communities, otherwise known as CCRC’s are facilities that feature independent-living apartments and homes and offer the various social, recreational, and cultural activities of other retirement communities. They also offer assisted living, nursing, and memory care. In this "continuum-of-care" system, residents usually enter the facility at the independent-living level, and if their health and abilities decline, they can move to the other level of services based on need.
Memory Care is a separate form of specialized long-term care catering to individuals with progressive and severe dementia due to Alzheimer’s or other causes. A Memory Care community or neighborhood are most often located at an existing continuing care community or assisted living and is designed to cater to the unique needs of individuals with severe dementia. These communities often are designed with environments that are therapeutic such as elements like “memory boxes” and circular designs to allow for safe wandering. Furthermore, programs will be specifically designed to engage residents with their favorite hobbies or interests.
Equality Senior Living may be able to provide assistance finding:
A Skilled Nursing Facility, which is a type of nursing home recognized by Medicare & Medicaid as meeting long term health needs for individuals who have the potential to function independently after a limited time. Skilled Nursing is a term used when care such as complex wound dressing, tube feeding, or rehabilitation can only be done by a licensed nurse.
Nursing Homes to provide nursing care for older adults who require it. While the homes have doctors on staff, nursing assistants provide most of the help with basic, daily activities, and nurses direct medical monitoring and intervention when necessary. Their work is often supported by speech, occupational, and physical therapists who work to keep residents as strong as possible.
For your information - other types of Senior Communities:
Age-Restricted Communities, also known as "active adult" or "[age] 55+" communities often limit 80% of the residency to individuals who are over a set age range. These communities accommodate individuals who would like to live in a community without children. Spouses or partners are typically permitted to live in the community provided one of the members meets the age restriction. Children and family members are usually permitted to visit for a set time. Seashore Point in Provincetown, Massachusetts is an example of an age-restricted community.
Senior Apartments or age-restricted apartments are typically available to people age 55 and older. Although some are luxury apartments with high price tags, many are priced at market rates or below. Some are even built specifically for low-income people. Because the units are constructed for older adults, they are often designed to be accessible and include transportation services. Many offer recreational and social services, too. Town Hall Apartments in Chicago, Illinois serves people 55 and older, 60% of whom are LGBT.
Cohousing designates a type of intentional neighborhood in which residents actively participate in the design and operation of the community. Residents privately own their homes and do not pool their incomes, but there are common facilities for daily use. Decisions are made cooperatively, rather than by top-down hierarchy or majority-rules voting. Cohousing communities are vibrant places where there are many opportunities for multigenerational interactions and social connections. Elder or senior cohousing communities follow the same guidelines of age-restricted communities. Village Hearth Cohousing is a caring community in Durham, North Carolina comprised of members from the LGBT community, their friends, and allies.
